Extended Teen Wolf Trailer: Scary or Stupid?

Teen Wolf is coming to MTV.

As teased in the first trailer for this upcoming drama, the network is updating the Michael J. Fox film from the 1980s, airing 12 episodes of a series that features Tyler Posey as a newly-bitten high school student.

An extended preview for the show has been released, causing viewers to wonder: Will this be a success along the lines of Twilight or The Vampire Diaries? Or an embarrassing, unnecessary remake? Get a taste of what premieres on June 5 and decide for yourself...

Monsters Inc. Sequel Titled Monsters University

There’s been a slow trickle of news from CinemaCon, with most of it teaser posters for films from later this year. The biggest bit so far is the official title for the Pixar sequel to Monsters Inc. That title: Monsters University. This also fits with previous information this might be a prequel. Though nothing has been confirmed, the likelihood of John Goodman and Billy Crystal reprising their roles is all but assured (who would say no to Pixar?)

Pixar is rightly revered for their work so far, but â€" that noted â€" this bent of doing sequels (and now prequels) is a little disheartening. I’m sure this will be another quality effort from the team, it’s still a little sad that they feel the need to go back to previous films after Toy Story 3 and Cars 2. And this is a dreaded prequel. There’s no getting around that this is partly about keeping the toys and the brand viable.

Monsters Inc. is one of Pixar’s best films, and has aged well over the decade since it came out. But without the “doorways to children” as the central narrative concern and having established how the main character come to change that for the better, it won’t have that great connection to how children process and fall in love with supposedly scary or large things. But the universe of this film was one of the most exciting aspects of the original, and exploring that could be fun.

Cars 2 hits theaters this summer, so work on the film should be well under way, with the film targeted to hit theaters sometime in 2012.

A few weeks ago, paparazzi got some photos of Suri Cruise holding up a box of Penis Gummis, gummi candies shaped like penises (see photos here). Everybody was all “ZOMG, Suri is just like her daddy!” and “Katie is a horrible mother who gives her child penis-shaped candy, for shame!” Anyway, Katie appears on Elle DeGeneres’s show today, and she talks about the dreaded gummi penis incident. Katie actually sounds like a real mom here:

It’s not always easy being Suri’s mommy. Katie Holmes knows that she’s under a microscope as an actress, wife to Tom Cruise â€" and mother to Suri, who turns 5 this month.

Already famous for her jet-set lifestyle, couture kiddie clothes and her attachment to a pacifier, Suri unwittingly caused yet another stir a few weeks ago when she was photographed â€" in the arms of her famous mom â€" clutching a box of X-rated, phallic candy.

Holmes, 32, opened up good-naturedly about the photo fracas during a Thursday appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“Recently, I took [Suri] to get ice cream in New York at this place called Serendipity that we go to all the time. It’s for kids. The clientele is children,” explains the actress, who plays Jackie Kennedy in the new ReelzChannel miniseries The Kennedys. “We go in and we are waiting for a table and she grabs some gummies that are boy part gummies. I was horrified.”

(In pics that stormed the web, Suri checked out a colorful box of “Penis Gummies,” featuring drawings of anatomically correct chewy candies.)

Continued Holmes sheepishly: “P-e-n-i-s gummies. I said, oh wow those aren’t Swedish fish. . . They are called p-e-n-i-s gummies and they look like it.”

Holmes spotted the controversy immediately. “She was holding the box and I was like ‘OK, wow we don’t need that right now.’ Because I thought if I said ‘Put that back,’ and then she’s going to say, ‘What is this?’ And I really didn’t want to have that conversation.”

The Dawson’s Creek alum was upset that Serendipity was even selling such a raunchy treat. “I was like, why are selling these here? This is for kids. And then it was on the cover of a magazine that I’m giving her those gummies!”

“I was like, ‘Oh my god, no.’ We put them back.”

I get it. Kids pick up everything, and Suri probably only saw the pretty colors or that it was “candy”. That being said, I would have loved if Katie had told this story with the punch line, “So I took them from Suri and went to pay for them. Tom loved his gift!” Alas. But seriously, there’s enough stuff we can yell at Katie about, the Gummi penis incident just seemed like a cute kid story that could have happened to anyone.

Is that second photo of the Serendipity trip as well? What the heck is a Cock Blocker? Is Serendipity like Spencer’s Gifts with ice cream? I’m so confused.

I agree, Kaiser, that there seem to be a lot of unpopular parenting decisions happening in this family but a preschooler picking up a box of candy is not a big deal.

I don’t think it’s a big deal in the first place, I think I would laugh my ass of if I suddenly realized my kid’s gummis are penis shaped, but I’m really curious what kind of a store that is.

Bomb blast kills seven in NW Pakistan

Suicide bomber kills seven in NW Pakistan: police
A suicide bomber on a motorbike blew himself up near a police checkpoint in northwestern Pakistan on Wednesday killing seven people and wounding 16 others, police said.

"The bomber came on a motorbike and detonated himself close to Ambar check post near Swabi town," local police chief Abdullah Jan said.

He said the checkpoint was close to a camp set up by a religious political party for a public meeting in Swabi, which is about 100 kilometres (60 miles) east of Peshawar.

"The death toll has gone up to seven including a police official," he said.

"We have recovered the body parts of the suicide bomber."

Another police officer Ejaz Ali confirmed the toll and put the number of wounded at 16.

The meeting was planned by the hardline Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) party led by Maulana Fazlur Rehman. The event was cancelled after the bombing.

Rehman was on his way to the venue when the blast happened, party spokesman Jalil Jan told AFP.

"He is safe and the meeting has been cancelled," Jan told AFP. "We can't immediately identify the attackers. We don't know who is involved. But we can say the target appears to be the JUI leadership.

"Six party supporters were martyred and seven wounded," he said.

Police official Hayatullah Khan told AFP that Rehman's convoy was set to enter the town when the blast hit.

"We were lined up and party members came out from a nearby reception camp.

Suddenly there was a huge blast amid welcome slogans by party workers. Shrapnel hit me and I received injuries to my head and leg," he said.

The northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhawa province bordering Afghanistan has frequently been the target of militant violence.

More than 4,000 people have died in suicide and bomb attacks throughout Pakistan since government forces launched an offensive against militants in a mosque in Islamabad in 2007.

Taliban and Al-Qaeda-linked militants launch almost daily attacks across northwest Pakistan and the tribal belt that Washington has branded the most dangerous place on Earth.

Also, about that blind item, it could be swifty. But, really, who cares? I buy pregnancy tests often.

I had so much drama with birth control. I had an allergic reaction to one pill, another caused massive infections in unpleasant areas. All in all, I went through two years, four or five different pills and constant misery to realize that hormonal birth control just wasn’t for me.

So, now my boyfriend and I use condoms. But, since I have a very irregular cycle there are always moments of worry when it seems like it’s been a little too long since I last had a visit from aunt Flo. For example, right now it’s been 65 days since my last period. That can sound scary.

So, just to ease both our minds, I take pregnancy tests once a week during times when it has been more than 30 days since my last period. Neither my boyfriend or I want kids at the moment. So, it’s best if we take that fear off the table by knowing for sure what the state of my uterus is at all times.

So, basically, buying a pregnancy test means nothing. She could be buying one for any number of reasons. Maybe she just has an irregular cycle and is worried about it.

In fact, given what we know of Taylor Swift’s maturity level, it wouldn’t surprise me if she wasn’t even seeing anyone either. In her mind, she’s probably like “omg, I gave John Mayer a hand job once a year ago and my period is five days late now… I’m pregnant!”.

Taylor’s little girl image is just as contrived as the rest. That magic marker ‘13′ on her hand gets on my last nerve. Why doesn’t she act like a 21 year old woman instead of constantly infantilizing herself? Oh yeah, because if she stops behaving like a teenager, those tweenies will no longer identify with her, stop buying her records and move on to someone else. Taylor’s going to string this goody-two-shoes image out for as long as she can until her fans get bored or grow up and then she’ll shock everyone by straddling her glittery guitar on the front cover of Maxim before turning into Leann Rimes.

"He is safe and the meeting has been cancelled," Jan told AFP. "We can't immediately identify the attackers. We don't know who is involved. But we can say the target appears to be the JUI leadership.

Police official Hayatullah Khan told AFP that Rehman's convoy was set to enter the town when the blast hit.

"We were lined up and party members came out from a nearby reception camp.
