As you can see, the Screen Actor’s Guild awarded the usual suspects last night. This is one of the last major precursor shows to take place before the Oscars and the contenders in the acting categories seem to be a lock. Bale, Portman, Firth, and Leo should get real comfortable because in a few weeks there’s a good chance they’ll be taking that fateful walk to the Oscar podium.

Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson has a new, hot, lawyer boyfriend

I saw this a few days ago, but apparently this new couple grows closer by the day. I already knew that Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson is gay, but what I didn’t know was that he’s been a single bachelor for a bit, and he just recently got coupled up with a hot lawyer. The lawyer’s name is Justin Mikita, and Justin is now JTF’s date for all of the award shows! So cute. In a time when even some couples who have been married for years won’t walk a red carpet together, it’s refreshing to see JTF flaunt his hot boyfriend.
At Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, Modern Family fans will have their eyes on breakout star Jesse Tyler Ferguson â€" and his hot date, lawyer Justin Mikita. (Once they stop gawking at Sofia Vergara, of course!)
The new couple have been hitting the awards show circuit â€" and the town â€" together as of late, and releasing a steady stream of smitten photos via Twitter.
The actor, 35, brought Mikita, 25, to an Elle Women in TV event Thursday night and then to Entertainment Weekly’s bash at the Chateau Marmont Saturday night, where they hung out together outside for 15 minutes before joining the party.
The pair hit the red carpet together Sunday night at the Shrine Exhibition Center in Los Angeles. Earlier that afternoon, Mikita Tweeted to Modern Family star Nolan Gould, 12, “hope you brought a poncho! See you soon :)�

25 arrested at California conservative meeting

Twenty-five people were arrested for trespassing Sunday as hundreds protested outside a strategy session of conservative political donors at a resort near Palm Springs, authorities said.

The mostly peaceful demonstration had been arranged with authorities, but some protesters crossed the street to the entrance of the Rancho Las Palmas Resort where they were met by deputies in riot gear, Riverside County Deputy Melissa Nieburger said. They were arrested without a struggle, booked at Indio Jail and released.

Sunday was the second day of the four-day, invitation-only conclave of about 200 wealthy conservative political activists. It was organized by brothers David and Charles Koch, whose Wichita, Kan.-based Koch Industries is one of the nation's largest privately held companies.

The brothers have held similar conclaves in the Palm Springs area and Aspen, Colo., for years, but this conference was met with increased scrutiny. Liberal groups have targeted the brothers for criticism because of their funding of the fight against global warming laws and their financial support of Americans for Prosperity, an organization that has worked closely with tea party groups.

The group did not say who was attending the conference, and reporters were not allowed inside the resort, but the strategy sessions in years past have included radio talkers Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, and Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, according to The New York Times.

Organizer Samantha Corbin told City News Service the protesters were there to "voice opposition to the Koches' funding of climate denial groups, far-right political candidates and anti-health care reform efforts."

Protesters carried signs reading "Troops Home Now," ''Medicare for All" and "Tea Party Founded and Funded By The Kochs."

Several dozen people dressed in hazardous materials suits and held police tape and a banner that read "Quarantine the Kochs."

The protest, which had nearly 1,000 people at its peak, lasted about two hours.

Koch Industries defended the gathering as an exercise in democratic assembly and service to the country.

"This conference brings together some of our nation's most successful business leaders, job creators and those who make it a priority to support their communities and our country in significant ways," said Nancy Pfotenhauer, a spokeswoman for the company.

"We respect all Americans' rights to free speech and to peaceably assemble," she said in a written statement. "It is disappointing that some members of the group protesting today made the choice to not be respectful of the community or of our right to meet."

A couple weeks ago a teaser trailer was released for the upcoming biopic Soul Surfer, and as the title suggests â€" it’s about surfing. Well, it’s more of a combination of surfing and perseverance over a horrifying ordeal. The film refers to the lead character as played by AnnaSophia Robb, who stars as the real teenager (Bethany Hamilton) who caught America’s attention when the unthinkable happened to her she was while catching a wave. The official trailer for Soul Surfer has been released, check it out and you’ll see exactly what we mean…

In this version of the trailer, they actually show the partial arm. In the teaser, they were hiding it as if they were waiting for a big reveal. We all know what happens to it. The poor girl’s story was all over the news. To get the look, the actress had to wear a green sleeve on her arm, which they edited out later. The CGI isn’t the greatest in the world but it serves its purpose.

The film also stars Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, Carrie Underwood, Jeremy Sumpter, and Kevin Sorbo. It’s scheduled to hit theaters on April 8.
